Juan Wauters has been a core Captured Tracks artist for over a decade. Long before his solo work, Juan fronted The Beets, a beloved Queens-based band whose raw, lo-fi sound helped define the early DNA of the label. Since then, he’s released some of CT’s most intimate, exploratory records: each one tied to a different chapter of his life.

For his latest album MVD LUV, Juan returned to his birthplace of Montevideo to reconnect with his roots and create a project centered on homecoming, origin, and identity.

I led the creative video direction for this rollout, producing a multi-part documentary-style series that covered his entire discography and culminated with a deep dive on MVD LUV itself. I wrote and edited a seven-episode video series, each one dedicated to a different Juan Wauters album. This required extensive research into his life, lyrical themes, influences, and the context behind each record.

Each episode served as both a history lesson and a celebration, giving fans a structured way to revisit Juan’s evolution leading up to MVD LUV. The series built excitement week by week and created a narrative bridge that made the new album feel like the natural next chapter in his story.

MVD LUV DEEP DIVE

JACKSON HEIGHTS TOUR

RESULT

The series became one of CT’s most ambitious artist retrospectives, creating a serialized narrative fans followed across multiple weeks. The combination of long-form storytelling, Juan’s personal history, on-location filming, and the emotional grounding of MVD LUV made the rollout one of the most engaging campaigns of the year for the label.
