Wild Nothing — Hold Phone Number Activation

Wild Nothing’s first new album in 5 years Hold was a return shaped by Jack Tatum’s experiences with new fatherhood, pandemic anxieties, and the existential shift of suburban life. To bring fans into this world, I created an experiential phone-number activation tied to the single “Suburban Solutions,” blending humor and nostalgia into a unique entry point for the album’s themes.

The single Suburban Solutions plays with the idea of the suburbs as both comforting and claustrophobic. The music video for the song is styled as a tongue-in-cheek suburban advertisement, and I extended that concept into the physical world.

HOLD MUSIC

I designed a real phone-number-based activation where fans could call the number featured in the video. When callers hung up, they automatically received a text message with links to stream the single and pre-save the album, turning curiosity into conversion.

GUERILLA POSTERS

I created bold, tongue-in-cheek posters with the activation’s phone number and postered across Williamsburg, Bushwick, Ridgewood, and the Lower East Side the night before release.

RESULT

The activation generated over 200 calls, with fans sharing the posters on Reddit and on socials. It drove meaningful increases in streams and album pre-saves, and served as an entry point into the world of Hold, a fun extension of the album’s themes.
